Name: Daniel ‘Dan’ Flanagan

Occupation: Electrician with over 40 years of experience

Elected Office: Delaware County Councilman, District 1 

Hometown:  Yorktown, Indiana

Fun Fact: Dan owns an antique tractor and is a member of the White River Heritage Antique Association. Dan also enjoys collecting old cars and is a member of the Central Indiana Old Car Club. 

Dan Flanagan upholds the following beliefs while serving on the Delaware County Council: 

  • Fiscal Responsibility: Prioritize reducing government deficits by cutting spending rather than raising taxes.
  • Limited Government Spending:  A belief that governments should operate similarly to households, not spending more than they earn (total revenue). 
  • Long-term Stability: Prioritizing debt reduction to ensure economic stability for Delaware County.
  • Accountability: The belief that tax dollars should be spent efficiently by eliminating wasteful spending.
  • Integrity: Dan operates with an ethical compass that emphasizes honesty, reliability, and accountability.
  • Public Trust: Acting ethically, honestly, and in the public interest, never for personal gain.
  • Consistency: "One set of values"—the promise that I will always be consistent.  The fundamentals and deeply ingrained beliefs and principles that guide me in making decisions, ensuring that I always do for others before myself. 
  • Transparency:  Being transparent with decision-making to ensure accountability. 
  • Following Through: Ensuring promises made are promises kept. 

Dan Flanagan has 15 years of experience serving as an Elected Official.  A brief timeline of Daniel Flanagan's Political Experience:   

  • 2022 - Elected to the Delaware County Council District 1
  • 2019 - Town of Yorktown Town Council President and cut the ribbon on Yorktown’s new Town Hall. The project came in on budget and was constructed faster than initially expected. 
  • 2018 - Re-Elected Yorktown - Mt. Pleasant Council At-Large 
  • 2014 - Elected to the Town of Yorktown Council At-Large 
  • 2013 - Mt. Pleasant Township and Yorktown consolidated into the Town of Yorktown.
  • 2012 - Re-Elected to the Mt. Pleasant Township Advisory Board At-Large
  • 2010 - Elected to the Mt. Pleasant Township Advisory Board.
